The Greatest Showman

Review

Released: 2017

Genre: Musical Drama Film

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya

If you are into classic movies, this one is definitely for you. Set in the old American times where women used to wear dresses and men wore coats and breeches, it is a fascinating mixture of vintage and musical. It is a film loosely based on the life of a real person, P.T Barnum. This movie shows how a simple family man changed the lives of different outcasts and his own through a struggle that was initially meant to give his own family a better life. He started a traveling three-ring circus with people having different oddities.

This movie is a magical piece of work with an engaging screenplay. It consists of 11 songs and all of them are amazingly shot. All the actors have given energetic performances but Zendaya requires a special mention who played the character of Anne Wheeler, a trapeze artist. She spent months perfecting her acrobatic skills for this role.

I personally enjoyed this movie a lot. It taught me that to achieve your dreams you have to leave the comforts behind. You have to let your imagination run wild. It is quite close to reality as it depicts the judgmental part of society. Everyone is different in their own way but being different doesn't mean you are unacceptable. And for others to accept you, you'll have to embrace yourself first.

This is my favorite quote from the movie:

"No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else." P.T Barnum
